How to Convert Singapore License back to Malaysia License

Dear Malaysians,

I would like to share below on How to Convert back Singapore License to Malaysia License.

(A) Prepare Photocopy and Original of;

  1. Singapore Driving License
  2. Malaysia Driving License
  3. Malaysia NRIC
  4. Malaysia Passport Copies of Front Page with your details and the last/latest page with Visa Stamp Chop during recent entry to Singapore with white card.
  5. Driving record extract from Singapore Traffic Police (valid for 6 months)

(B) Now let me tell you the steps;

1. Find your way to Singapore Traffic Police @ 10 Ubi Avenue 3. NOTE: Traffic Police branch at Bukit Batok Driving Centre was closed in Feb 2019. Take queue number for driving record and wait for your turn. (Monday to Friday, 8am to 10am will be less crowded, but Saturday morning will be a very long queue) Provide your Singapore Driving License and Work Permit, request for Driving Record Extract for Malaysia driving license activation, pay SGD10 by NETS or Debit Card only, collect the letter.

2. Bring the letter attached together with the above-mentioned document copies (A) and original, head straight to JPJ Johor at Taman Daya, (Kompleks JPJ, Karung Berkunci, 714, Jalan Kencana Mas 1, 81100 Johor Bahru, Johor). Fill up the form and take the number starting from 1XXX (the counter staff/security) should know. NOTE: If you want to be served early, start queue earlier, 7am.

3. Once the number is called, the counter staff will take the documents and inform them that need to wait, the officer will call for an interview.

4. If all the documents are perfect, usually they won't call for the interview, straight away will process the document. BUT be prepared to wait for another 3 - 4 hours to get the document back...!!!

5. Singapore Driving License will be punched hole to show that you ONLY CAN HAVE ONE DRIVING LICENSE.

Please make sure the Singapore ICA stamp chop the Visa on M'sia Passport (only if you enter using White Card). This is compulsory for JPJ to approve the conversion back to M'sia License.

In case you think want to have both SG & M'sia License same time, forget about it. You need to prove that you already quit working in Singapore to be eligible for activation in Malaysia.
Singapore allows to keep multiple country Driving License but MALAYSIA DO NOT ALLOW TO KEEP MORE THAN 1 DRIVING LICENSE.
Reason...??? They said insurance issue laaa... Driving record issue laa... Blacklist issue laaa...
Blah... blah.... blah...

Hope this information finds whoever is in need...

All info above is correct as experienced in Oct 2019.

Thank you
Muhamed Rafi Fajrudeen

  5. Hi Rafman, thanks for your detailed blog post. I have obtained the Extract Record from Traffic Police Station. My SG driving license number and my PR NRIC number is different because I get my SG driving license before I get the PR. Is this okay? Or the SG driving license number need to same as the PR NRIC? I'm resigned and heading back end of next month. I still can make the change if needed.

    1. Yes you can! Just pair with your SG WorkPass when you get questioned at any roadblocks. Mostly cops at JB would accept it. But when you travel to other states, you might face some hard time explaining to the officers.

    3. Dear Mr Amir

      You may consider purchasing an ‘Extract of Driving Licence Record’ after you had pass the Driving license which indicates the Classes of Singapore driving licence you are holding, the vehicle capacity allowed to drive / ride for each class and demerit points as well. At the back page of the extract it will reflect an explanation of all classes of driving licence in Singapore. This is the only official documents that TP can offer. The search and processing fee for the ‘Extract of Driving Licence Record’ is SGD$10/- (nets or cashcard payment only) per record and can be collected immediately by the applicant.

  14. When I was applying for a loan to purchase my building as a small business owner in a tough situation, conventional banks said they could not help me. Mr Pedro, a loan officer, sat down with me, heard my situation and decided that I was worth taking a chance on. Here we are 3 years later and I have just renewed my loan for another 7 years. I couldn’t have purchased my building without the help of Mr Pedro and will be forever indebted to them for giving me a chance when no one else would."
    I will recommend you to contact a loan officer Mr Pedro on the information below if you need any financial assistance.

  17. Which exact law in Malaysia prohibits holding of both SG and MY driving license?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hi,

    My SPR is going to be renounced in next year because I have not been working and staying in Singapore for more than 5 years. Hence I would like to convert back my Singapore driving license back to Malaysia driving license, the reason is also partly due to my Singapore driving license will be expired together once my SPR is renounced.

    1) Looking at the documents required of item 2 of (A), malaysia driving license, is it really necessary to have it because it was cut by JPJ since about 10 years ago, I had lost it.

    2) I heard from a friend who had the experience of conversion around in year of 2016, he was told that whoever had converted their malaysia driving licence to singapore driving licence more than 5 years, will not able to convert back to malaysia, anyone heard about this condition?

    3) Will resit to get back Malaysia driving license is better option?

  19. For item 5,What if i enter singapore using PR? Need to stamp passport too?

    "Please make sure the Singapore ICA stamp chop the Visa on M'sia Passport (only if you enter using White Card).This is compulsory for JPJ to approve the conversion back to M'sia License."
